Making Sense of Brains, Brands & Behavior in Digital Culture
Using psychology to understand why and how we interact with media and technology.
This is Digital Brains & Behavior. I am a media psychologist—a professor, researcher, and consultant who applies psychological science to making sense of how and why people interact with media and technology. Understanding the ‘why’ helps us, as individuals, parents, and professionals, build positive media relationships and design effective content strategies.
To do this, I look at the stories people tell. Humans have always been storytellers, sharing stories across different media throughout recorded history. Stories are a uniquely human form of communication that leapfrogs technology and gets to the core of experience. In the process, they help us share ourselves with others. How we tell stories says a lot about how we see the world and what we value in it.
